I am an Assistant Professor in the Molecular Biology & Biochemistry at UC Irvine and also the director of the BioIntelligence Lab.
Research Interests: My lab research broadly focuses on integrating multi-scale theoretical, experimental, and physics-guided AI frameworks to study biological systems, from low-level molecular machineries to high-level cellular functionalities. We are also interested in designing biologically inspired cognitive AI models that enhance interpretability and enable reasoning over complex biological data. Our goal is to identify the interconnections and integrated mechanisms between the molecular environment and cellular functions with the hope of developing novel strategies for precise and personalized medicine. Bio: Dr. Alimohamadi has interdisciplinary training in engineering, biological sciences, and data science. She received her PhD from UC San Diego in 2021 and then she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC Los Angeles, Department of Bioengineering. Dr. Alimohamadi has been widely recognized for her scientific contributions. She is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the American Association of University Women Postdoctoral Fellowship, the STAT Wunderkind Award [STAT][UCLAnews], the William and Diane Spicer Young Investigator Award [SSRLnews], the University of California President’s Nobel Lindau Fellow [UCLAnews], the CIBA/YCC Young Chemists Scientist Award, the Rising Stars Women in Engineering, the NSF BioPACIFIC MIP Fellow [BioPacific], and the Outstanding Graduate Students Award. She has also received multiple fellowships, including the American Association of University Women Post-doctoral Fellowship, the Distinguished PhD Student Fellowship, the Siebel Scholarship [UCSDnews], the Visible Molecular Cell Consortium Fellowship, and the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Post-doctoral Fellowship. |
